"Youth's a Stuff will not Endure" with Katherine Price & Diane Van Den Oever DESCRIPTION:The program will explore how the Immortal Bard's words resonated in languages\, cultures\, and time periods other than his own. Featuring works in English and in translation\, it will showcase settings from the nineteenth- and twentieth-century song repertoire\, including works by Haydn\, Schubert\, Berlioz\, Beach\, Finzi and more. Soprano Katherine Price holds a Master of Music Degree from the University of Oregon\, where she studied voice with Grammy Award-winner Milagro Vargas and participated in master classes with Lucy Shelton. She has been invited to perform at the John Donald Robb Composers Symposium at the University of New Mexico\, the Festival of New American Music in Sacramento\, California\, the Cascadia Composers Association's National Concert in Portland\, Oregon\, and at regional College Music Society conferences in Oregon and in North and South Dakota. Ms. Price serves on the Vermillion city council and works as Assistant Dean of Arts & Sciences at the University of South Dakota. Diane Van Den Oever just completed 6 years as a staff accompanist for the University of South Dakota Music Department\, collaborating with both faculty and students. A student of Dr. Susan Keith Gray\, she earned a Masters in Collaborative Piano in December of 2021. She is the principal organist at the United Congregational Church\, Vermillion\, and works with the Vermillion Children's Choir\, under the direction of Gretchen Burbach. Prior to her work in Vermillion\, Diane taught Spanish classes (University of Sioux Falls and University of South Dakota) for over 15 years\, organizing and leading study abroad experiences in Mexico\, Costa Rica\, Ecuador\, Peru and Spain. In Sioux Falls\, she served as principal organist at Calvary Episcopal Cathedral for 10 years. She enjoys performing duo and trio music with talented friends\, hosting music salon parties and collaborating in lecture recitals. FREE ADMISSION!
