SUMMARY:Picnic at Spirit Mound
DESCRIPTION:The Spirit Mound Trust will host a potluck picnic at Spirit Mound on Saturday\, September 7th. Everyone is welcome to attend. The luncheon begins at 1 p.m. A brief Annual Meeting of SMT Members will follow at 2 p.m. Spirit Mound is located 5 miles north of Vermillion\, on the west side of Highway 19. At 2:30\, all will be invited to hike the Mound. Along the way\, hikers can stop to learn about the flora\, fauna\, history\, management\, culture and preservation of the Mound. The following people will be stationed at various points along the trail to share their knowledge and skills: Jason Bauman (management)\, Molly Rozum (history)\, Mark Wetmore (ants)\, Dave Swanson (birds)\, Tom Schoening (video)\, Mike Greiner (photography)\, Jody Moats (monarchs)\, Brian Hazlett (plants) and Dan Peterson (National Park Service) until 3:30. In case of rain or inclement weather\, this event will be held on September 8th. All are welcome to attend and invited to join Spirit Mound Trust in the effort to preserve this unique landmark\, located north of Vermillion. For more information\, visit www.spiritmound.org
