SUMMARY:Ron L. Moyer One-Acts at USD
DESCRIPTION:The University of South Dakota's Department of Theatre is proud to present the Ron L. Moyer One Act Plays. This popular annual event offers an eclectic sampling of short plays in a variety of styles\, from the comic to the poignant to the mysterious. Senior BFA Design/Technology major Brittney Lewis directs 15 Minutes in a Haunted House by Deirdre Girard. This serio-comedy is about two best friends who are dared by one of their boyfriends to spend 15 minutes in an abandoned house. "One Acts has been very exciting to work on because it is a big student collaboration: I love working together with my student actors to create this beautiful piece of work\, as well as with the other student directors in bouncing ideas off each other." Junior BFA Theatre Studies major Ally Watters directs Date with Death by Steven Hayet: Dating and murder collide with each other in this dark comedy. "My favorite part of the process so far has been working with actors and seeing them in roles that they typically haven't played before." First-year MFA Directing student Mickey Morstad directs Long Ago and Far Away by David Ives: In this quirky drama\, a married couple's impending move sparks an existential crisis. "Seeing a show in the intimate Arena space with audience on three sides\, you're not only connecting closely with the actors\, but you're also observing and sharing a sense of community with others in the audience." First-year MFA Directing student Jeff Larsen directs Jack by Melissa Ross: In this drama\, the recently divorced Maggie and George deal with an emergency involving Jack\, the dog they adopted together at the start of their relationship. "Audiences will enjoy the wide variety of genre\, characters and styles among our four plays." Check out USD Theatre on Facebook and Instagram for interviews\, videos\, photos\, and more. The Ron L. Moyer One Act Plays performs Tuesday March 8th through Thursday March 10th at 7:30pm in the Arena Theatre on the USD campus.
