SUMMARY:The Art of American Diversity
DESCRIPTION:Vermillion Area Arts Council will celebrate the Life and Legacy of Martin Luther King\, Jr. with a special community event\, "The Art of American Diversity" on Monday evening\, January 15th\, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Washington Street Art Center\, 202 N. Washington Street . \n\nThe event will feature an exhibit of visual art from Vermillion school children and adults\, which will open on Friday\, January 12\, 4 to 6 p.m. and will remain on display for the Federal Holiday event.\n\n \n\nThe event on Monday will begin with a community potluck supper at 5:30. \n\nBallet Dancers from the Vermillion Area Dance Organization will present a "Diversity of Dance" performance at 6 p.m. \n\nLamont Sellers\, Associate Vice President for Diversity at the University of South Dakota\, will speak at 6:30. \n\nAt 7 p.m. the audience will hear readings by Paul Sneve\, SD Poet Laureate Lee Ann Roripaugh\, Marcella Remund and Gabriel Mambo. \n\n \n\nThe event is free\, and open to the public.
