DESCRIPTION:10-11am Prepping for the Show (Ages 8-12)\, taught by Shekendra Morgan\, Youth Room\n\n\n\nWonder where actors get all that energy to perform long shows on stage? How do they get ready for the curtain to rise? In this workshop\, we will have fun and shake it out as we prep our voices and bodies for the day\, with warm up techniques and quick theatre games that are used by all different levels of actors. Be prepared to sweat\, laugh\, and have fun. Wear comfortable clothes that allow for movement\, and bring water to drink!\n\n\n\nA Day In The Life\; Using Improv To Tell A Story (Ages 13-18)\, taught by Austin Vetter\, Kozak Room\n\n\n\nIn this workshop\, students will learn about long-form improvisation. We will be playing a simple and fun game called "A Day In The Life." Students will learn how to tell a story with a non-linear timeline and interacting with multiple characters. The goal of this workshop is to show the students that all you need to create a story is a little cooperation and trusting your instincts.\n\n\n\n11am-1pm lunch break (Free Lunch for students 18 & under @ Jolley Elementary)\n\n\n\n1:15-2:15pm Elizabethan/Jacobean Hats (Ages 8-12)\, taught by Cassie Hoppas & Brittney Lewis\, Youth Room\n\n\n\nIn this workshop\, participants will use scrap fabric\, cardboard\, hot glue\, and remnant notions to create tall brimmed hats that were popular in the Elizabethan and Jacobean period.\n\n\n\nThe 14 Types of People--According to Shakespeare (Ages 13-18)\, taught by Shekendra Morgan\, Kozak Room\n\n\n\nIf you've been to SDSF performances before you know there are very specific kinds of characters that populate Shakespeare's plays\, including the lovers and the fool. But what makes these characters so iconic and easy to replicate in entertainment today? In this workshop we will learn about the 14 main archetypes that Shakespeare uses in his plays by identifying these characters within our summer production Twelfth Night or What You Will and then compare them to modern movies and TV shows to see just how well they hold up. Is Jeff Winger from Community more of a "Big Lunk" or a "Flawed Ruler"?
