Join a Celebration of the River June 20
Join neighbors for the 5th Annual River Honoring Community Picnic and Outdoor Music Fest at Clay County Park, Vermillion, from 5:30pm-8:30pm on Sunday, June 20th.
This year the River Honoring takes place on Father’s Day, which makes the celebration even more meaningful!
Enjoy the picnic and outdoor music festival with an optional float trip.
To take part in the 3-4 hour kayak trip from Myron Grove to Clay Co Park, bring your own canoe or kayak for shuttling and launch. Must pre-register to join by texting Harry Freeman, at 605-659-5646. Details will be provided at that time.
The celebratory community picnic takes place at 5:30 p.m. Followed by a River Honoring with Native American perspective on the river from Dr. Gary Cheeseman, professor of education at the University of South Dakota. After the honoring, enjoy the outdoor concert by the East Of Westreville band while they play Americana-Bluegrass music. Special interlude by Rural Cloud Museum entitled We River will entertain spontaneously during the music performance.
The event is FREE and open to the public. A $5 donation is suggested to support the musicians is appreciated.
Bring you plates, chairs, blanket and picnic food to enjoy this festival by the beautiful wild and scenic Missouri River.
