In 1927, former U.S. President Calvin Coolidge established the Summer White House in the Black Hills. What impact did South Dakota have on President Coolidge's decision not to run for re-election? How did America's 30th president play a role in creating a thriving tourism industry in South Dakota? Learn the answers to these questions and more in this unreleased version of "Coolidge: Rediscovering an American President."
She will also be hosting a lecture: "A Second Look at Three Decades: The 1920s, the 1930s, the 1960s" at 6:30 p.m. in the MUC Ballroom.
Amity Shlaes is a best-selling author and columnist who focuses on 20th century politics and economics. She is also chair of the Calvin Coolidge Presidential Foundation Board of Directors.
