Description
The Vermillion Public Library is excited to host a special, two-part event celebrating community heroes and history on Saturday, November 15. Attendees of all ages are invited for a morning of stories, crafts, and a fascinating look at the world of firefighting.
The morning kicks off at 10 a.m. with the Children's Firefighter Storytime and Craft. Veteran firefighter Ray Decker will read "Lou" by Breanna Carzoo. Following the story, children can complete a themed craft inside the library before heading outside to explore a modern fire truck brought to the library parking lot by the Vermillion Fire EMS Department. This event is perfect for families and children of all ages.
Immediately following, from 11 a.m. - 12:30 PM, the library will present an Adult Firefighting History and Artifact Talk. Ray Decker will share his incredible, multi-decade career, discussing the history of firefighting, telling captivating stories from his time as a firefighter around the world, and showcasing a unique, global collection of antique and modern firefighting equipment. While this talk is geared toward adults, children are welcome to attend with an adult.
