Author and photographer Benita VanWinkle is visiting Vermillion on her book tour for America’s Hometown Movie Theaters: Please Remain Standing. The Coyote Twin and seven other historical South Dakota cinemas are featured in the forthcoming book. The evening of July 21, 2026, VanWinkle will present highlights from her forty-year project documenting hometown cinemas at the Coyote Twin. A book signing will follow in the First Dakota Coyote Gallery. Vermillion is VanWinkle’s only South Dakota tour stop and a perfect event for anyone who loves film, history, or architecture. Business casual attire requested.
