Throughout Earth Days
Location: Edith B. Siegrist Vermillion Public Library (18 Church St.)
Borrow-Grow-Share with the Seed Library
Our local library’s Seed Library provides seeds for free to local community members. The seed library was begun to encourage residents to plant the seeds, watch them grow, and then donate any extra produce gained to the Vermillion Food Pantry! You may also donate commercially grown and packaged seeds to the seed library. Just bring the seeds to the circulation desk! (At this time, the library cannot accept homegrown/harvested seeds). The Seed Library is available whenever the library is open.
For Earth Days 2022, Rachelle has developed a how-to video on how to make seed bombs. You can watch the video starting April 19 whenever you have time. A limited number of free kits will be available to pick up at the Vermillion Public Library as well. The kits include powdered clay, compost seeds (native to the South Dakota region: Lupine, Blanket Flower, Black-Eyed Susan, and Coneflower), and a sandwich bag. Just add water to the clay powder.
