Description
Celebrate two important anniversaries with an evening hike at Spirit Mound Historic Prairie! Join Friends of the Missouri National Recreational River at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 25, as we mark the 222nd anniversary of Lewis and Clark’s historic hike up Spirit Mound and celebrate the National Park Service’s 110th birthday. During this approximately 1.5-mile round-trip hike, we’ll explore the mound’s rich history, unique geology, native prairie, birds, and other wildlife. The hike is considered moderate and includes a gradual climb to the summit. After the hike, enjoy a cupcake in honor of the National Park Service’s birthday. All are welcome to join us for this relaxed evening of history, nature, and celebration.
Please contact info@fomnrr.org in advance if you need any accommodations to participate. This Group Hike is part of a larger series of events for National Park Week. Explore the full schedule at www.fomnrr.org/events.
