Description
The Vermillion Public Library will be hosting Phyllis Schrag, a South Dakota Humanities Scholar from the Speakers Bureau. Schrag will be presenting on the topic of Small Town Life. Schrag, grew up in a tiny South Dakota town that measured 4 blocks by 6 blocks. Her reminisces of life in a small town are universal. Monday, after all, was wash day, and every self-respecting woman there knew just how to hang out that wash to dry so some things would be hidden from view. Schrag delightfully describes life in a small town from a child’s perspective and brings listeners deep into the heart of a community whose lives revolved around the town whistle, school events, and church. Her personal refection of that life and those times, entitled, ““If You Have To Grow Up, It Might As Well Be In a Small Town” will be held at the library Friday, June 3rd at 12:00 pm noon.
