An opportunity to write, produce, edit and even act in your own movie. Fool's 48 was created to enhance film as art in South Dakota. Inspired by Fischgaard Short Film in Aberdeen, SD, we hope to create a memorable event for amateurs and professionals alike. In our second year, it will take place Friday, April 13 at 5:30pm through Sunday, April 15 at 6pm with a public viewing on Monday, April 16 at the RED Steakhouse Auditorium ($5/ticket). The initial meeting will take place Friday, April 13 at 5:30 at First Dakota Bank’s Coyote Gallery at the Coyote Twin Theater. We will discuss rules, timelines and answer any questions. Here are a few things about the event: • Your own filming and editing equipment are needed. This can be done simply by using your smartphone-it doesn't have to be anything fancy. • Monetary prizes will be awarded to the top 3 films. Several other prizes will also be awarded. Things such as Best Score, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Writing, Best Cinematopgraphy and more! • There will be certain things that need to be included in your film such as a specific line, location or prop. These will all be disclosed at the Kickoff Party on Friday evening. • Every team will receive a different genre that their film needs to be shot in. Whether that is horror, comedy, sci-fi, western... the list goes on. Those will also be drawn at the Kickoff Party. So it is best to come with your idea, screenwriting, props, etc already planned out but easy to modify. • If you need ideas on how this works, the following links are great places to start! fischgaard.com and 48hourfilm.com REGISTRATION: Please message us on Vermillion Cultural Programming facebook page to register your team. There is no charge. We will then email you the rules and regulations packet.
