Description

The second annual Vortex Film Festival kicks up dust at the Coyote Twin in downtown Vermillion Sept 26–28! We'll have 36 short films, 5 submitted features, and 3 marquee features on screen throughout the weekend, plus three film-craft workshops. The new Black Sheep and Sheep Flockers food trucks will also be on site Saturday & Sunday for a bite to eat between film blocks.

FULL DETAILS
Our opening night marquee feature is Fall Is a Good Time to Die, directed by Dalton Coffey, is a Western crime drama filmed in South Dakota. A question & answer session with Coffey and a private reception at The W Social House will follow the screening. Saturday night, we have a five-year anniversary screening of the pandemic-set thriller Before the Fire by South Dakota daughter Charlie Buhler. Following the Q&A with Buhler, all festival guests are welcome to join us for a festival afterparty at XIX Brewing Co.

Vortex Film Festival is hosted by the Vermillion Cultural Association and supported in part by a grant from the South Dakota Arts Council. South Dakota Arts Council support is provided with funds from the State of South Dakota, through the Department of Tourism, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
