Vermillion Medical Clinic physician, Dr. Matthew Krell, and other clinic providers, recently presented a check to the Community Connection Center for $1,000. The donation was to address the concern about food insecurity in the area by helping the Vermillion Food Pantry that is available through the Connection Center. Dr. Krell, pediatrician at Vermillion Medical Clinic, has a special interest in addressing the food insecurity that many families in Vermillion face.
With a poverty rate of 29%, financial insecurity is a daily occurrence in Vermillion, with families often having to choose between feeding their family or paying monthly bills. The Vermillion Food Pantry provides around 50-70 pounds of fresh produce, meat, bread, dairy, and non-perishable foods for families at each monthly visit.
Vermillion Food Pantry shopping hours are Monday 10 a.m. - noon; Tuesday & Thursday 5-7 p.m.; Wednesday & Friday 2-4:30 p.m. For more information and eligibility, contact the Community Connection Center.
