The Vermillion Public Library is delighted to announce its next featured Lunch & Learn event, welcoming acclaimed Western historian and author, Candy Moulton, for an insightful presentation on one of America’s most significant historical figures: Sacajawea.
Moulton will present her talk, based on her extensive research and award-winning book, "Sacajawea: Mystery, Myth, and Legend." The event is scheduled for Thursday, November 13 from 12-1:30 p.m. in the Kozak Room.
Attendees will have the unique opportunity to join Moulton as she delves into Sacajawea’s pivotal role in the Lewis and Clark Corps of Discovery, exploring her long-lasting impact on the American West. Beyond the well-known narrative, Moulton will separate myth from documented history, shedding light on the Shoshone woman’s linguistic genius, geographical knowledge and the enduring strength that proved indispensable to the expedition's success.
Moulton is a highly respected historian of the American West and a recipient of multiple Spur Awards from the Western Writers of America. Her work seeks to honor the voices and experiences that shaped the frontier.
