Title:  Director of Quality Assurance and Admissions

Reports To: Executive Director           

Hours: Full-time salaried exempt position requiring flexibility in scheduling.

Job Summary: Under general supervision, this position is responsible for the overall management and operations of the Admissions and Quality of Services review.  Provides on-going leadership, management, training, evaluation and consultation to staff members.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Administration      

  • As a part of Senior Leadership, assists the Executive Director and organizational leadership in effective administration of the agency.
  • Advises and informs the Executive Director on all significant matters affecting program operations.
  • Serves on and facilitates agency committees by appointment or as a volunteer.
  • Serves as an emergency contact.
  • Expands and enhances Sesdac, Inc.’s professional and leadership role in the field of developmental disabilities by providing consultation to other agencies, public speaking, attendance at and participation in state and national conferences, training seminars, and/or community committees.
  • Effectively articulates Sesdac, Inc.’s vision and mission with people supported.
  • Presents self and organization in a positive, professional manner.
  • Works closely with the Executive Director and Director of Finance to develop an annual budget.

Admissions

  • Coordinates and facilitates the Admission Committee.
  • Coordinates admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
  • Maintains all records and meeting minutes pertaining to all applications.
  • Leads and works closely with staff and families regarding admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Establishes and maintains positive working relationships and open communication with individuals supported, families, staff and other identified persons.
  • Consults with staff members on the implementation of Personal Support Plans.

Quality

  • Works closely with Human Resources to identify, develop, and deliver staff training for all services-related efforts.
  • Coordinates and facilitates the Positive Supports and Human Rights Committees and ensures all necessary documentation and records are properly maintained.
  • Ensures implementation, and regular reviews of all agency policies and procedures.
  • Works with Senior Leadership on the development and revision of policies and procedures.
  • Evaluates components services to ensure they meet Sesdac, Inc’s. stated mission, goals, and objectives.
  • Understands and supports the achievement of Personal Outcomes.
  • Provides direction and assistance to staff in areas of assessment, habilitation planning, and monitoring of progress of individuals served.
  • Periodically monitors the implementation of Personal Support Plans through scheduled and unscheduled on-site observations.
  • Periodically monitors all documentation and ensures accuracy, objectivity, and validity.
  • Regularly seeks feedback and input from individuals supported, the individuals’ families, staff and other identified persons.  Deals with complaints in a consistent, timely and professional manner.
  • Participates with team members and all staff members in the continued evaluation of the program’s effectiveness

Education and Experience

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a human services related field (i.e. Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, Education), a Master’s Degree is preferred. 
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in working with persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities is required. 
  • Has a proven record of success in admissions/qualification assessment for Division of Human Services state waiver programs.
  • Has a proven record of success in quality review and change implementation.
  • Has proven proficiency in CQL review, monitoring, and implementation (preferred).

  • Requires minimal supervision and is a self-starter committed to perform the duties of the position.

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Valid South Dakota Driver’s License.
  • Ability to maintain certifications in CPR, First Aid, and medication administration
