- Serve as a cultural and educational advocate for Native American students across all grade levels (K–12).
- Standard office and school environments; ability to work with students in classroom settings and one-on-one.
- Collaborate with school staff, counselors, and administrators to support academic achievement, attendance, behavior, and graduation outcomes for Native students.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with students and families from Native American backgrounds.
- Serve as the primary contact between the school district and students and their families.
- Coordinate cultural events, programs, and classroom presentations to increase awareness and respect for Native American cultures.
- Organize and facilitate parent engagement activities and community meetings.
- Maintain accurate records of student support efforts, participation in programs, and community outreach.
- Position involves travel between school buildings and the University of South Dakota.
- Evening hours may occasionally be required for events and meetings.
- Help identify students who qualify for Native American-specific services or funding and assist with documentation and reporting.
- Administer, supervise, and complete the objectives of the Title VI project.
- Supervise Title VI programs such as tutorial, arts and crafts, and cultural enrichment projects for the Native American students.
- Present a quarterly report to the parent committee on home-school coordination services, and project staff accomplishment.
